Our Inspiring Story
Kadence’s courage, love, and bond with her service dog Sadie inspired the creation of the Kadence Legacy Fund. Through her legacy, we provide professionally trained PTSD service dogs to veterans and individuals living with trauma — helping them find independence, healing, and hope.

Honoring Kadence & Carrying Her Legacy
Our inspiration comes from Kadence — her courage, love, and compassion guide everything we do. But we could not make a difference without the generosity of corporate and legacy donors, sponsors, and other veteran-focused nonprofits. Together, we change lives for those living with PTSD.
Our Mission
The Kadence Legacy Fund is committed to helping individuals living with PTSD by funding the training and placement of certified service dogs. These life-saving companions provide freedom, stability, and hope, not just support.
We proudly partner with Holdfast K9, an Alberta-certified, trauma-informed service dog training organization. Their experience with veterans and first responders ensures each dog is not only obedient but emotionally attuned to those recovering from trauma.
Stewarding Donations with Care
We are intentional with every dollar:
-
95% of funds go directly to our One Dog, One Life program.
-
5% covers administrative costs.
Unlike many charities that spend heavily on salaries and overhead, we rely on dedicated veteran volunteers who give their time and expertise, maximizing the impact of every donation.
Our Cause
Our mission is simple: change lives, one dog at a time — with dignity, compassion, and purpose.
As stewards of Kadence’s legacy, we carry a promise to protect her memory and support others with the same courage and compassion she lived by. This fund exists because of her, for her, and in honor of all she stood for: truth, love, and strength.
This is more than a charity — it is a promise to carry her legacy forward: one dog, one life at a time.
Kadence & Sadie Story
Kadence bravely faced a five-year battle with Stage 4 Medulloepithelioma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Growing up in a military family, she learned resilience, community, and strength. Through every moment, her service dog Sadie was by her side — an anchor, protector, and source of love.
Sadie had an extraordinary gift for sensing Kadence’s emotions. When fear or pain arose, she brought calm and comfort, helping Kadence not just survive but truly live. Their bond was built on trust, love, and joy.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
To honor this bond, Kadence’s Legacy – One Dog, One Life, in partnership with Holdfast K9, now provides professionally trained PTSD service dogs at no cost to individuals seeking healing.
Every donation helps provide:
-
independence
-
emotional support
-
life-changing service dogs for those who need it most
If you or someone you know is living with PTSD, apply today and share your story. Together, we carry Kadence’s legacy forward — one dog, one life at a time.
